ENTREPRENEUR'S CORNER

Entrepreneur of the Month

Every month The Beacon will spotlight an up-and-coming local business that the Center is working with and the Chicagoland community should know about. This month, its tea time for Argo Tea.

Company: Argo Tea

Address: 958 W. Armitage Ave

E-mail: info@argotea.com

Website: www.argotea.com

Company Profile:

Argo Tea is a contemporary café that offers healthy teas from around the world, signature tea-based beverages, teaware and gourmet foods.

“Tea is the second most popular drink in the world after water,” says partner Arsen Avakian. “We want to do for tea what Starbucks did for coffee.”

Argo Tea will open its flagship café, located in Lincoln Park at the corner of Armitage and Sheffield, in June 2003.

Background:

The brainchild of four corporate techies who weren't having fun in the dot.com world anymore, Argo Tea was spawned by the partners' European heritage and love for all things tea related.

Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center's 2 cents worth:

Argo Tea is tapping into a large and emerging market while providing a healthy alternative to consumers. They've taken the saying, “location, location, location” to heart and will provide several menu items to suit the needs of customers.
